Password Reset (MSA)

Objective: Change or reset your Microsoft user account (aka “personal account” and “live account”) password.

Notice: Password policy requirements include: minimal length, uppercase letter, number and special character.

Change Password

To change your password, follow these steps:

Using your internet browser, visit "https://account.live.com/password/reset" and sign in if prompted
Select either your backup email or mobile phone number and click "Send Code" to receive a one-time passcode
Enter your one-time passcode and click "Submit"
Input a new password in the "Create new password" field
Identically input password above in the "Confirm new password field"
Click the "Submit" button

You will receive an error in the event you used a weak password, new password doesn't match or password doesn't compliant with Microsoft's policy. If you successfully changed your password, you will be returned to "My Account" page.
