Password Reset (MSA)
Objective: Change or reset your Microsoft user account (aka “personal account” and “live account”) password.
Notice: Password policy requirements include: minimal length, uppercase letter, number and special character.
Change Password
To change your password, follow these steps:
- Using your internet browser, visit "https://account.live.com/password/reset" and sign in if prompted
- Select either your backup email or mobile phone number and click "Send Code" to receive a one-time passcode
- Enter your one-time passcode and click "Submit"
- Input a new password in the "Create new password" field
- Identically input password above in the "Confirm new password field"
- Click the "Submit" button
You will receive an error in the event you used a weak password, new password doesn't match or password doesn't compliant with Microsoft's policy. If you successfully changed your password, you will be returned to "My Account" page.
